Welcome to the premier issue of Yarns Plus News a digest of bits and pieces of interest to fibre artists. Yarns Plus? Granted, not a household word so heres the background. Marie Payne, of Woven Works purchased large quantities of rayon chenille, often selling to other weavers. In late 1997 Yarns Plus was established by Marie and Don McMurrich as a yarn retailer specializing in chenille. In 1998 Marie developed a line of variegated chenille plus scarf and shawl kits which have all proved to be very popular. In 1999 Yarns Plus has continued to grow by adding yarns and kits of interest to weavers, hand knitters and most recently, machine knitters. Our latest offering is Tencel which is highlighted on Page 2. We hope you enjoy Yarns Plus News. Your input and comments are most welcome. Don & Marie |
Little tricks can be big time and work savers. Beginners Tip is an exchange where we encourage experienced fibre folks to share tips with those new to the fibre world. Here is a tip for novice weavers from Weaving Tricks by Susan Gilmurray.
To twist two fine yarns together on a bobbin as one, stack the cones. The first cone is placed in a container and its yarn is threaded through a hole in the lid up through the second cone. The second cone sits on the container allowing both yarns to be fed on to your bobbin as one. |
