Hello!
September and October were very busy months with shows and Guild
events. Knitter's Fair on September 15th was held at a great new
venue, Bingeman's in Kitchener. The move in and out was a snap and
the show layout and features seemed to be just right for the attendees.
The following week we had a booth at the OHS Central Region Seminar
hosted by The Haliburton Highlands Handweavers and Spinners at the
Bark Lake Conference Centre in Haliburton. Again a great location
that worked very well.

At theCentral Region Seminar at
Bark Lake Don discusses Tencel yarn for a special project with
a customer. |
On October 1st the Burlington Weavers and Spinners Guild held an
evening devoted to Tencel. Joyce Newman spoke on weaving with Tencel
and Barbara Reid presented her findings on spinning and dyeing Tencel,
Tencel/Merino and Tencel/Cotton fibres. We were invited to be part
of the evening and were again amazed at the widespread interest
in Tencel.
On Monday October the 16th Marie was the guest presenter at the
Peterborough Weavers and Spinners Guild meeting. Marie spoke on
colour selection and dyeing techniques. The Peterborough Guild hold
a show and tell each meeting which certainly exhibits the varied
disciplines and talents among the membership.
All were great events with the bonus of meeting new weavers and
spinners and saying hello to old friends.
Yarns Plus will be closed over the Holiday Season this year. Last
day of business is Thursday, December 20th, reopening on Monday,
January 7th, 2002.
We would like to extend Season's Greetings to all our customers.
May 2002 be a year of fulfilling creativity in your life.

Christmas Tassel Angels
 |
To make an angel, start with a white yarn tassel
with shiny metallic yarns added. Wrap the "arm" sections
at the shoulders, and the angel will have celestial sleeves
( Fig 1 ). A lace halo or a small starched doily will complete
the look. Add wings of gauze, lace, or silver paper. |
This suggestion comes from "Tassels, The Fanciful Embellishment"
by Nancy Welsh. ISBN 1-887374-23-x. This book was reviewed in Yarns
Plus News Issue 10 March/April 2001.
Tencel yarn is ideal for tassel projects such as these precious
angels. Great embellishments for holiday gifts!

What's New &
Coming!
New Tencel Warp - Mountain Mist
In the last issue we introduced Mountain Mist as our latest colorway
in both Chenille and Tencel. Everyone took one look and said, "This
is a great color combination, where are the Mountain Mist Tencel
Warps." Guess we totally Mist that one.
Well at Yarns Plus we listen and believe the Customer is always
right! We now have Mountain Mist Tencel Warps in the line. We have
yet to catch up to the demand so it appears safe to call it a winner.
The five Tencel warp color combinations now available are Red, Blue/Purple,
Wine Country, Teal and Mountain Mist. Priced at $59.00 ea. These
warps offer and excellent way to enjoy the Tencel experience on
your loom.
Each warp is chained, loom ready and yields two scarves approximately
68" long and eight inches wide. Two 3 oz. skeins of Tencel
are required for weft.
Tencel- We are anxiously awaiting
the arrival of four new Tencel mill dyed colors with six more due
in the spring. The new shades are Violet, Emerald, Mauve and Light
Indigo. Next spring we expect Seafoam, Adobe, Gold, Silver, Acorn
and Fuchsia. There will be 16 colors in total. All these colors

Okra we mentioned last month is now here and it is gorgeous. This
1300 yd/lb chenille won't last long!
Goodbye Burgundy- We have discontinued
Burgundy as a solid color in all three hand dyed lines, Rayon Chenille,
Rayon Lustre and Tencel.
Mill Dyed 550 yd/lb Rayon Chenille-
Not a new item but it does have a NEW price. We took on this line
thinking it would be very popular with hand knitter's and weavers.
Don was wrong and the accountant says it is time to bite the bullet
before year end. Priced to clear at $14.00 a lb. Min order five
pounds any color mix or order 10 lbs or more for only $12.00 per
