Hello!

A sure sign of spring is all the color seen on the deck at 1314 Crossfield. Before the spring flowers are in bloom we take advantage of the sunny and breezy days to dry yarn outside. With the myriad of colors in our hand dyed and painted lines the deck can be a blaze of color some days.

The What's New column this month is extra long due to all the changes in our lines. Be sure to check it out as there are some super additions.

Next week we go to Wasoon , the bi-annual weaving conference held in Northern Ontario. This year it is in Sault Ste Marie and promises to be a great time as usual.

As soon as we get back we'll be in Convergence mode as the first of August will be here in a flash. If you're going to be there be sure to stop at booth 307 and say "Hello"

William's Mill

Mill Happenings….

Marie and Josette celebrated their first anniversary at The Williams Mill. The party held on Saturday, April 20th was a fun time for all the folks who came.

Marie and Josette were delighted to learn all three of the jackets they submitted to the Convergence Fashion Show will be on the runway.

Josette and husband Graham Stewart have mounted a show at the Willams Mill Gallery for the month of May entitled "KILNS- Interpretations". Graham is an ardent photographer who has masterfully recorded very creative impressions of the fast disappearing kilns used to cure tobacco in the Simcoe - Delhi area of Ontario.

Josette has created stitched fabric interpretations of the photographs. Here is the front of the invite. Gallery hours are Wed-Sunday, noon to 5:00.

Handy Tips….

Rubber Gloves - here is a great tip for dyers from Louise McCann a potter in Dundas. Like socks rubber gloves somehow dissappear. If you end up with two rights or lefts simply turn one inside out and it will fit the other hand.

Shibori - after reading Marie's write-up in the January/February issue Dorothy Balston of the Medicine Hat Fibre Arts Association mentioned her group uses dental floss for wrapping and tying knots and finds it works very well.

Thanks, Louise and Dorothy, for the tips

What's New & Coming!

"Ocean Breeze" Hand painted Tencel Scarf Warp.

Marie's latest Tencel Warp creation is "Ocean Breeze" a pleasing combination of four blues and two greens. The perfect color for spring and summer in Tencel, the perfect fiber for the season. Suitable complimentary colors for weft from the mill dyed line are Indigo, Seafoam or perhaps Purple for a totally different look. Teal from the hand dyed line would also work very well. In addition to Ocean Breeze there are warps in Blush, Blue Mix, Red Mix, Mountain Mist, Teal and Wine Country. Each warp is loom ready and yields two scarves . Priced at $59.00 ea. In addition, two 3 oz. skeins of hand dyed or a 250 gram tube of mill dyed 2/10 (10/2) Tencel is required for weft.

Five New Tencel Mill Dyed Colors are here!

The five new colors in mill dyed Tencel 10/2 are fantastic, Cobalt Blue, Seafoam, Green, Acorn, Silver and Adobe are on hand and ready to ship. There are now 15 colors in the line. All colors are available in 250 gram tubes or 500 gram cones. Priced at $23.50 and $40.00 ea.

Changes to the Hand Dyed Tencel line...

With the addition of the new Tencel mill dyed colors we have dropped similar colors from the hand dyed line. Hand dyed now available in 2/10 (10/2)-3 oz. skeins are Claret, Gold, Navy, Sand and Teal. Discontinued are green, violet, purple, chino and gray.

1450 yd/lb Rayon Chenille has arrived.

A good sized lot of 1450 undyed Rayon Chenille produced by the Quaker Division of Nortex Yarn has arrived and is available on 1 lb. tubes. This is the same company that produced the 2000 and 3000 yd/lb Chenille we carry.

Rayon Lustre has been discontinued…..

This great yarn that was exclusively twisted for Yarns Plus is no longer available. Unfortunately we are completely sold out. We are hopeful we can source a multi-ply Rayon in a similar weight as this has been a very popular yarn with both weavers and hand knitters.

A Yarn Garage Sale ????

No, this is not a tall yarn, just Marie's creative way to clear some space in her yarn/warping room. On Saturday June 15th from 9 am to 2 pm Marie's Yarn Garage Sale will take place at 1314 Crossfield Bend in Mississauga.

Marie started to weave exclusively with Rayon Chenille in the mid 90's. Prior to that it was anything and everything. Thinking all the yarn would be used one day, the stash stayed.
