Set closely. For 1300 or 1500 rayon
chenille, set at 12 e.p.i. |

Beat at approximately 11 p.p.i. |

Plain weave is the best weave structure
for rayon chenille. It controls the beast and prevents worming.
Other weaves can be used if the floats are short and you adjust
the sett. SAMPLE! SAMPLE! SAMPLE! |
| 4. |
When beginning a new length of yarn,
make the overlap longer than usual. |
| 5. |
Check sampling carefully for shrinking.
I was surprised at the inches I lost across the width of the
warp, as well as in the length. |
| 6. |
Always machine stitch across the
end of your woven work, before you finish a fringe, even if
you plan to braid or twist the ends. I find a tight braid holds
this yarn the best. |

Chenille soaks up water like a sponge.
When washing your chenille pieces, put them through the spin
cycle in your washer to get out all the extra water possible.
This step cuts down on drying time considerably. |
| 8. |
Be patient!! Your rayon chenille
work will feel rather stiff and unusual when wet, but as it
dries it becomes very soft and luxurious. |
| 9. |
Add a thick, soft towel or two to
your ironing board before pressing your chenille piece. I always
press with a damp press cloth first and then gently press directly
on the work. Allow the chenille to thoroughly dry again after
pressing, and it will then be essentially wrinkle free. |

Rayon chenille dyes beautifully
and easily with Procion MX cold water dyes. |
